Pets Rescued, Red Cross Helps Family After House Fire On Jersey Shore: Firefighters

A home caught fire in a Lower Township neighborhood, officials said.

Firefighters responded to the two-story house on Redwood Avenue in the Villas section of the township at around 1:41 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1, the Villas Fire Company said in a news release.

First-arriving crews saw heavy flames coming from the top floor of the home. Firefighters found fire on an outside deck spread into the attic.

No one was injured in the fire and all pets inside the home were rescued. The Red Cross responded to help the residents.

Crews stayed on the scene for about three hours. Paramedics from AtlantiCare EMS and Middle Township also assisted at the scene.

The Cape May County Fire Marshal's Office was helping Lower police and firefighters investigate the cause of the fire.
